1. What is Million Cat Pixels?
A. Million Cat Pixels allows businesses and people the opportunity to promote their products on the web to increase the visibility of their website or to post pictures of their favourite cats to show the world their favourite feline.
Everyone is welcome to buy the pixels, which are available in 100-pixel 'blocks' (each measuring 10x10 pixels). The homepage is divided into 10,000 of these 100-pixel blocks (hence there are 1,000,000 pixels in total). The reason for selling them in 100-pixel blocks is because anything smaller would be too small to display anything effectively.
You can buy as many pixels as you like, as long as there are some available (check the live stats in the top right corner of the page to be sure). When you buy some pixels, you can then display the picture of your choice in the space you have purchased. Your picture can be linked to your website. However, no obscene or offensive images are allowed.
The pixels you buy will be displayed on the homepage permanently. Using the money made from the sale of the pixels, we plan to keep Million Cat Pixels online for at least 3 years, but hopefully much longer. The pixels will offer the best value in Internet advertising for cat websites. You will have helped create a piece of internet history and a mecca for cat lovers everywhere!

2. Who are you?
A. My wife and I are cat lovers and while her tastes run the full gamut of cats I’m more focused on the big cats. I just can’t pass up a documentary on Animal Planet about lions, cheetahs or jaguars! So we brainstormed and were inspired by Alex Tew, a British university student who created the Million Dollar Home Page to help him through university. His website was for commercial enterprises but we thought we could do something similar as a tribute to cats of all kinds, not just the domestic cat.

3. Why should I buy your pixels?
A. Because you will have a picture and a link to your site on the homepage of Million Cat Pixels that could potentially be seen by millions of cat lovers over the coming years. Million Cat Pixels.com will be online for at least 3 years but the idea is to keep it online longer. So you could own a piece of feline 'internet history'! For those of you who are financially conscious, look at it this way. 1 block costs $25 with a minimum guaranteed shelf life of 3 years. That works out to a little more than $8 a year for millions of people to see your pixels and link to your website. Whether you’re advertising for cat products or just want to share your best friend with the world, I think you’ll agree that it’s great value for money!

4. Why can't I just buy 1 pixel?
A. A single pixel is just too small. You can't display anything meaningful in one pixel - or click it easily - because it is so small. Since you are paying for others to see your pixels, having a pixel area that was too small would defeat the purpose. This means the pixels that people buy will be large enough for others to see. After all, it’s all about internet visibility!

5. Can I reserve some space even if my site isn't online?
A. Yes. You can purchase your space and it will be reserved until which time your site is ready or back on line. Just follow the buy process through filling in your description, link url and image (which can all be changed before your link is activated, so it doesn't matter if you dont have the url info or have decided on an image.) This way you can reserve the space you want ensuring that nobody else can claim it. Payment must still be received for reservations.
